What is EAL?
"Equine-assisted learning (EAL) is an experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills for educational, professional and personal goals through equine-assisted activities " ( Equine-Assisted Learning (pathintl.org) )
Angel has been using EAL techniques through her time as a horse wrangler leading guided trail rides of all ages, where she would apply real life to how we can learn from the horses. Realizing this is her biggest passion, she became certified fall of 2020 and now is proud to use her skills to serve you.
EAL sessions are an experiential learning that involves the participant, facilitator, and equine specialist. In these sessions we create activities that are structured to help you grow in the following four areas of life.
- Connection
Horses are herd animals, meaning that they move together in following the leadership of the alpha horse. This means that when working with horses it is imperative that you are sensitive to what the horse needs from you to accomplish the objective.
- Intention
Each task you do with a horse requires clear communication on what you expect from the horse. Success depends on how efficiently and effectively you communicate your goals
- Energy
How you carry yourself and approach the horse will completely set the path for how the activity at hand will unfold. Each horse will appreciate and require a different energy from you.
- Pressure
As you work with horses, you will focus your energy towards the horse's body to achieve a certain action. At times, you will also need to remove your energy. Learning how to balance this translates into your everyday relationships.
