At Fitzwater Hilltop Farms, we take an educational, hands-on approach to horsemanship rooted in respect, connection, and safety. We believe there’s so much more to horses than just riding, they are partners, teachers, and companions.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming, supportive space where students can build confidence while learning how to properly care for and bond with horses, whether they are working with ours or their own.
What sets us apart is the way we teach: approachable, thoughtful, and grounded in real-world application. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to deepen your connection with horses, our horsemanship program offers a meaningful path forward.
What’s the Difference?
Traditional riding lessons often focus mainly on time in the saddle. At Fitzwater Hilltop Farms, the horsemanship program takes a more well-rounded approach—teaching students to understand, care for, and connect with horses from the ground up. Lessons include grooming, catching, tacking, groundwork, and learning how to read a horse’s body language for safety and connection.
This approach reflects the way Angel was raised around horses—learning through hands-on care and observation long before riding was the focus. It’s a foundation that fosters not only better riding skills, but deeper trust, confidence, and respect between horse and human.
